Handling LDOs in assembly operations requires complex algorithms to perform even simple tasks (such as insertion, grasping, gripping, routing, maneuvering, etc.), since there are many uncertainties regarding the condition of the LDO and its relation to the proximal environment due to its flexible structure. The robotic systems and the execution software include AI algorithms such as – Reinforcement Learning (RL), Impedance Control (IC), Small Peg in Hole, Active Sensing, Image Processing, dual arm sync motion, etc.
The Academic partners of the ART Consortium develop these algorithms. The companies implement them in the simulation environment for process integrity check, and later in the controller of the robotic system.
